'Taith' Trip - Barcelona
An Unforgettable Trip to Barcelona for Vocational Pathway Learners
In May, a group of pupils on our Vocational Pathway had the opportunity to spend an unforgettable week in Barcelona – a unique experience made possible thanks to the generous support of the Taith grant from the Welsh Government.
While there, the pupils visited a local school, Ysgol La Ginesta, where they had the opportunity to compare aspects of ‘wellbeing’ with pupils in Wales. This was a very valuable experience, enabling everyone to learn about different approaches to supporting student wellbeing in an international context.
Of course, it wasn’t all work! The pupils also had time to explore some of Barcelona’s most famous attractions. These included visiting the Sagrada Familia, walking along Las Ramblas, and experiencing the thrill of the PortAventura theme park. Some of the lucky pupils even had the opportunity to watch a Barcelona football match – an experience they will never forget.
The trip also provided an opportunity to experience local culture and cuisine, with many trying tapas for the first time – a new and enjoyable experience for all.
The week was full of fun, learning, and personal development. It is fair to say that everyone who took part benefited greatly, developing confidence, independence, and social skills.
It was an absolute pleasure for staff to accompany the pupils on the trip, and we are extremely grateful for the opportunity provided through the Taith programme. The memories will stay with us for years to come.
